After having his open RNY on the 5th, getting finally relased on Monday - the 11th, Chris is back in the hopital. I thought that some of the liquids he was drinking were coming out of the drainage hole - even though they were red (raspberry Crystal Light - and the drainage smelled like it!!) and then yesterday morning - brown gunk - which I thought was the carnation Instant Breakfest. He also had a temp that was going up and down, and he was getting more pain on his left side and back. We took the hour drive to Milwaukee to see the Dr., and he is back in the hospital. They did a cat scan, x-rays, blood work and put the pic line (central line) back in him, but this time in his arm. He is on 2 differsnt antibiotics, morphine, and fluids. Nothing by mouth. The ct scan showed a fluid pocket, which they are going to drain this morning, and put another drainage tube in. Not sure about the left lung though - I guess we'll know more later today. He said that once this is through - he is going to eat right, exercise - and do everything right - because he NEVER wants to be in the hospital again. He came home with oxygen, and when they put the monitor on him without the oxygen it was still low - so there is still something going on - the poor guy is miserable - but the morphine helps :) ....all this, just when I thought it was going to get better. Chris FINALLY came home yesterday, with oxygen for a suspected lower left lung collapsed. He's doing well, but pretty weak. He has spiked a temp yesterday afternoon (101.9) and again this afternoon (100.9) but Tylenol takes it down. Today his drainage hole started draining and bubbling! You could hear the bubbling across the room! Very wierd! The doctor said just to put a dressing on it. He is very happy to be home, and anxiously awaiting a return of energy - and getting back in the swing of things. Thank you all so much for you letters of support - we both appreciated the input and prayers. Patti (Mrs. Chris)

Hi CHris, and Mrs. Chris, I know you want to go home. Try and be patient and know the best place to be is where you are right now. You wouldnt want to get home and start having more difficulties breathing etc. Please know we are lifting you up in prayer and your family. We are all supporting you and wishing you the best. Take care and keep looking up. Doris Mack

The chest x-ray that they took yesterday on Chris due to low oxygen levels, showed that the bottom part of his left lung is not filling up - or they said 'collapsed'. The Dr.'s said it is not uncommon. The Pulmonologist wanted him to stay until tomorrow, but Chris talked him into letting him come home today with oxygen. The surgeon ok'd his release based on what the Pulm'ist had to say. JUST when the nurse came to tell him that everything was set, and he was good to go - the side that was taking his temp said it was 101. Needless to say, the surgeon said he couldn't go home. Chris is quite bummed, he wants to come home. So instead the respitory therapist has been visiting him frequently, he is on IV antibiotics again, and he has another x-ray in the morning. At this point we are praying that there is no pnuemonia. It's funny that these difficulties seem so big right now - but there are others who have had much more serious complications. I think GOD for what we have right now, and pray for better days. Other than that - he feels pretty darn good!!!! - Patti - (Mrs. Chris)
