Ok back to basics

I have been struggling - really struggling, and too depressed about all this to post or anything. I kind of accepted I was losing slowly but it trickled down to a stop and i have been gaining since September. I went to the doctor and(with the help of my NUT) finally convinced them to do an insulin level test - after reading the things in this forum about PCOS. I tell you its not easy telling the medical profession things that you read about on a forum. But I have been seeing my NUT on a regular basis and discussing frankly and fully my eating habits and she supported me in requesting an insulin level test. Well I got the results today and surprise surprise! All my blood sugars are normal, my B12's and iron are normal, my liver function normal...in fact everything hunky dory except MY INSULIN!!! It was 20 and I now have metformin in my hot sweaty hand - and a renewed hope. So a huge thank you to the forum members who talk about this little known or little acknowledged beast.

Started to lose slowly again - which was a relief! In the last month I have acheived the completion of the duathlon and have joined a gym. (Who said this was the easy way out?) I'm noticing my feet getting smaller and my rings are falling off. At least I can wear my grandmothers ring again- thats another NSV - its a gorgeous ring.
I've had quite a bit of hunger and one really bad eating day. I have to remind myself why I'm doing this and how much it has cost me. I feel a bit petulant about losing so slowly. Very childish!

Nothing I can say can adequately describe the feeling of having completed this event! Hats of to SPARC who sponsor the event aimed at women - without barriers of age, size or disabilty. Its a marvelous event. Anyway I really did not know if I could complete it when I signed up. I ordered a size 20 T shirt hoping I would be down 2 dress sizes by then and I did manage to squeeze into it. I haven't lost like some others have, but I have not let that deter me from aiming toward the goal and exercising to bring my fitness up. And I did it!

6 and a half weeks post op
Mar 06, 2009
I started my exercise programme this week and it feels great. I'm just following what my surgeon told me, and that was to get my heartbeat into the fat burning zone and keep it there. Anything over 20 minutes is burning fat. So whatever exercises I want to to within these guidelines he is cool with. For me, my fat burning heartrate is between 110 and 130. So I do either 45 mins on the stationery bike (exercycle) or walking briskly, or dancing around my living room, or a combination. I know the routines for stretching my muscles and that sort of stuff, having wasted a lot of money on gym membership. I feel so good doing this, like for the first time its not a complete waste of time and effort. Love my sleeve!!!

My measurements haven't changed since the 18 days post op blog, as I've been in a bit of a stall for the last couple of weeks. Just starting to lose again now.

Its pretty encouraging stuff. I'm not losing fast, but I am losing. My clothes are getting loose, but I'm still not losing so much off my boobs and stomach. I really notice my legs getting thinner as my pants are flapping around my thighs. I'll put in some update photos soon.
I really notice the difference it has made to my feet when walking. I have a foot injury that really hurt whenever I walked. Not any more! I can get up up of bed quickly without puffing and struggling. I can tie my shoelaces and have given my toenails a trim! I am doing more around the house as every movement doesn't leave me puffing for breath. Although my BMI wasn't up there, I had some mobility problems due to most of my weight being around my middle (toffee apple on a stick shape). I can get up from sitting without the effort of that making me pass gas.... (TMI)
Life is good and I love my sleeve!
