Colleen--Your surgeon sounds like a horse's ass. I'm sorry to hear that he treated you so poorly. First of all, I think his "calculations" seem way too ambitious. I'm just at 6 months, and for the last 3 I've lost about 15 pounds a month. This is a high rate for my surgeon...and I was a super heavy weight! So...20 pounds a month seems ridiculous. Secondly, EVERYONE is different. I truly believe that we can all be the person we want to be. Yeah, they say that after 18 months it's hard to lose. BUT...I think if we "diet" then, we can lose more just like every other person. AND...we have the benefit of the bypass and healthier choices to begin with. So...so what if you're slower than his expectations? This should just give you the motivation to really show him! Best wishes for continued success! And I do say SUCCESS, because you can feel no other way about what progress you have shown thus far!! Take care.

(BIG HUGS) to you! Hang in there and sort through all the information. I'm only 4 weeks post-opp and almost sorry I did this, but I keep plugging along day to day. I hope your plateau will break soon! Kathleen

Colleen, It is unfortunate that your surgeon was so negative. When we hit plateaus we tend to beat ourselves up, we certainly don't need our "support" team beating us up also. I guess you have to consider the source, think maybe he was having a bad day, or whatever, count your blessings that you have a supportive loving husband on your side and a GYN that understands and supports you. You also have the AMOS family out here supporting you, every pound of the way. You have done an excellent job losing so keep up the great job and thank God that you lost 2 pounds and didn't gain 2 pounds. Have a wonderful, happy and losing New Year. Carla

Hey Colleen, so sorry to hear about your negative experience with your surgeon. If you can find someone else to do your follow-up care with, I'd never return to that surgeon! You don't need that kind of negative support system! You are doing awesome! Keep up the good work and have a wonderful new year!

Casey!! That's incredible!! I'm SOOO glad you're doing well and that you conquered the complications. I'm 2-1/2 months post-op now and down about 45 lbs. What a difference it makes!! Keep up the good work and do keep us posted!

I haven't written nor posted on any of the sites in a long time, but I do continue to read as much as I can. I'm now 3-months post-op and down 86 pounds. I would do this again in a heartbeat!

Sorry that I haven't posted for so long; I had a long profile here on AMOS, which one day suddenly disappeared! I wrote to AMOS, asking what had happened, but no one ever wrote back to me. Anyway, I'm eight days away from my three month anniversary; so far I'm down more than 70 lbs. and continuing to recover!
