Dana, good luck with your procedure and afterwards!!! You're gonna do just fine. Stay positive. My date is the 5th of August. You say you don't want to tell your family. I have an older sister who recently had a closed RNY. She didn't tell me or her adult children until the evening before surgery. She told us at that time that she was having a small hernia repair, but we knew something major was in the works. Her children and I experienced many negative emotions when we discovered the truth, before she told us. We would have fully supported her, but were excluded. Also, the risks involved are serious, not to be undertaken lightly. She has done great and has lost almost 80 lbs. in three months, but what if she had had complications and no one had been informed? Her husband knew, but historically pleads ignorance in all areas medical. Sis says now that she should have handled things differently and told us. I'm proud of my sister's strength and courage, and hope to do half as well as she. You know your family better than anyone, so informing them is a decision that only you can make. Either way I hope they'll be supportive of your decision. Again, I wish you the very best. You're gonna look and FEEL so wonderful!!!!!! Hugs, hugs, hugs. You hang in there!!!!!!
