I have an update from Vicky's husband to share. Please keep her in your prayers.
Hello Everyone. I am Vicky's husband and would like to extend many thanks to all of you that are keeping my wife in your thoughts and prayers. It has not been easy, if you get a chance, please stop by and see her. She is getting better day by day. Progress is slow but steady. I know that much of her progress has to do with your support. I read the messages and inform her of what individuals wrote and who they were. Keep praying, keep her in your thoughts and she will come back home soon. God bless all of you. As for an update on her status. She had an episode yesterday which required a paralyzing drug to stop her from moving around and kicking. She ended up having substantial bowel movement and since she is on the respirator, probably couldn't tell the nurse that she needed to use the bathroom. I believe she is much too weak to use the bathroom on her own at this point. She probably was holding it until she couldn't hold it any longer. I cannot imagine the frustration of trying to talk and inform us about how she is feeling and how thirsty and hungry she must be. The paralyzing drug lasts only four hours and the nurse informed me that she rested comfortably. In her moments when the morphine has not forced her into slumber, she nods and communicates at a minimum. But today was different! Today her eyes were opened wider. She was alert and her brother was trying to make her laugh. She managed to let her brother know that she was very thirsty and ice chips may be on the menu soon. Her sister flew down from Washington state to spend time with her. It fills me up to hear individuals wishing my wife well, individuals that do not know her personally but share common experiences. She wanted this surgery more than anything. Even though she lost her job a week prior to the surgery, it did not slow her down. I read updates and look at postings from New York, Arizona and all over the country. This is truly very kind of all of you. I will continue to share these postings with her and once again Thank You, all of you. Good night,
Alfredo Mendoza
