Kate your a cutie pie. I read your journey tonight and laughed my ass off. I can relate with a lot of your crazy thoughts. I think the tatoo will be fine , but then again I am large chested and plan to get a new pair when im down to my goal weight. I'm not okay with the idea of them shrinking after surgery. Might sound trivial but it's true. Anyway i've got one worry just as funny as your tatoo concern. You see last year before Thanksgiving my best friend told me that when she got her tongue pierced she lost 20 lbs. So can you guess what i did next lol? Yes I got my tongue piereced and no i didn't lose any weight and as a matter of fact i gained 10 more lbs. from all the McFlurry's and french fries i ate during the healing process. Hows that for a blonde diet lol ? Anyway now i love the darn thing but i know the hospital will probably make me take it out for the whole time i'm there. Problem is I can't take it out for more than a couple of hours before it starts to close up. Well not much I can do about it but it's a little depressing . I also have a tribal band tatoo around my ankle but I don't think it could really shrink that much to make a difference. Only time will tell. My surgery is November 15th which is 2 days after my 28th B-day. I wish you all the luck in the world and will be looking for you on the other side. Take care Shayne

Hi Kate, about that tattoo..... um I'm still pre-op BUT my friend has many tattoo's *I have 4 myself* BUT she has lost a lot of weight, and the one's on the fatty parts of her body are kinda stretched out looking now. I have one in "that area" and afraid of where it'll end up AFTER surgery myself! :) Prayers and hugs

Kate: I took two nightgowns, a robe, makeup and hygiene stuff to the hospital. The only thing I used was the robe - 1 time. I was lucky enough to have hospital gowns that were big enough to cover and to "live" in and the hsopital provided the hygiene stuff i.e. shampoo, etc.. I brought home everything unused. I lived in my softest nighties for the first 5 days home because they were the lighest on my incision (open Roux-N-Y 9-17-02). In my opinion it is not as bad as I thought it would be. The worse is the itching of my incision as it heals. I get my staples out Tuesday. Best of luck. May your surgery be uneventful and your recovery swift.
