Kate, I'm so sorry you had to go through with that. I think you showed considerable restraint under the circumstances. Find another doc to do your eval, this one sounds like *she* has personal issues! Love and hugs!

WAy TO GO KATE! I knew you could do it! You have only a nine more to give up. The only one I have known to pay for his surgery flew through much faster than others because he didn't have to wait on insurance. I 'm praying for you.

Kate: The best of luck to you on the not smoking thing. I know how hard it is to quit. 15 years, a pac and a half a day, I didn't think I could do it, but with the help of wellbutrin, it's going on two weeks, and not one cig. It's a big step, but you can do it. Just think how healthy you will be, having the surgery, and not smoking. The world is yours. Melody DeRose

Hi Kate, when I read your post I had to write. I also used to smoke 3 packs a day of Menthol No less.....Last Dec 5th I quit Menthol all together and smoke Marlboro light 100's now. I smoke about a pack every three days.About 6~7 a day...It is a big deal to me, just as it is too you . You should be VERY proud of yourself...It has been 8 months now and I breath soooo much better now and no longer have the smokers cough in the mornings. It's wonderful!Plus, I dont ever smoke a full cigerette. Just a couple hits and put it out....it's all I need any more. My surgery isnt until Dec 17th, but I plan on stopping all together by Sept 1st at the latest. Figure that will give me at least 100 days totally smoke free.plus add on the time of 8 months where I have did all the other. Write when ya can and God Bless....You are doing the right thing. Lots of hugs to you sweetie

Kate.. just wanted to say hello. Good luck to you. I am just an observer these days, learning lots and lots about WLS. I have a good friend that had it done over a year ago.. she is doing great, has had no problems whatsover.. and guess what? She is still smoking. Yes, yes, they say smoking is bad for you, but what isn't? I say be happy. You will stop when you are ready. And if not, then just enjoy. Good luck to you. Cindy
