Dr. Eibes is WONDERFUL! As are all of the surgeons he works with (Coster is the other one I remember). Coster may be hard on you, but you know he and the others care.
My first impression of Eibes was that he was very clinical and didn't have a wonderful bed side manner. But that impression was wrong. The more you get to know him, the more you can see he does his job well and he does care for each patient.
I had to have a follow up proceedure done (twice). He had to scope me to stretch out my hook up. It was painless and I was only sedated, not compeltely out. Each time he reassured me and walked me through what was happening.
Dr. Eibes has such a sense of humor, but you have to get to know him. Don't be afraid to ask him any question. I had a list a mile long (or so I thought). He always answers each one completely and honestly.
Over all Dr. Eibes would get an A from me. His competence and bedside manner are wonderful.

It takes about a month to get in for a consult with Dr. Eibes, so plan ahead! :) He was friendly, not rushed, and explained everything. Even drew pictures. I was denied by my insurance company the first time, for being 10 pounds too light. That's a first. Dr. Eibes wrote an appeal letter the same day and faxed it in. They approved me within 24 hours. I haven't dealt with him as a surgeon yet, but his office demeanor was pleasant.

Dr. Eibes is was very detailed in explaining the risks of the surgery. The ins clerk in his office is very nice and patient. I have heard that others said he doesn't have much bedside manner or personality but I didn't think so esp. after you see how busy he is. He was always at the hospital from early in the morning to late at night. When I had problems after my surgery he was very intent on finding out what the problem was. I felt safe in his care. Since he is a general surgeon if I needed surgery for anything I would go to Dr. Eibes.

Dr. Eibes was very nice, not hurried at all during my appointment (and he was even paged twice!)and answered every question I had about surgery, after care, etc. The office staff was also very informative and friendly. He dictated the insurance letter while I was still there, showing me what would be used for information, etc. He discussed aftercare for at home, however, there is not a support group yet, but he did say if there were any questions that the office would gladly answer them. He was very informative of the risks involved during the surgery and for after surgery care. I left his office feeling very good and well informed.

I originally called Surgical Associates for a consult with Dr. Coster...Dr. Coster has a rep for this surgery that can't be beat. Well Dr. Coster had a full plate, (pun intended), And the nurse said that Dr. Eibes was new to the office and has an opening. I figured Dr. Coster wouldn't bring a doc that would screw with his practice. So I jumped, and I am glad Dr. Eibes is my surgeon. He is likable and knowledgable. He didn't talk down or over me. He seemed interested in my case. The only downfall, which isn't much, is he said I would be his second largest person to do a RNY on. I'm 575-580, 5'11", and a BMI between 81-83. Still nothing to get down about He's just got more area to work with.
