St. Luke's Medical Center (COE) Hospital

It was pretty good. Every single nurse or doctor there were pretty awsome except for one. I got a nurse the first evening, the overnight nurse who was terrible, didn't get us what we needed when we needed it, including our pain meds, complained all the time. She obvisously hated her job. But all the others, kept us on a regular pain meds schedule, got us everything we needed. You just have to ignore the sour attitudes of the women answering the intercom when you press your button, they are NOT nice but they are not the nurses, so just brush it off. It was better than I expected.

I love my surgeon but I absolutely didn't like St. Lukes. With the exception of one nurse, I relly felt like I didn't exist. The floor receptionist was not nice and it took forever if you needed something. If it wasn't for the one nurse who helped me, and she wasn't even my nurse most of the time, who knows what it would have been like. The hoispital wasn't very clean and it was very unorganized.
But I love my Doctor and the stay was temporary. No major harm done.

Above comments relate mainly to post-op care. The pre-op area care was excellent except for the unavailality of a scale which could handle the specific problems of a patient with severe balance difficulties. Also anaesthesiologist was poor at implanting IV lines. I wish the Pre-op nurses has been willing to make more than a single try (which was evidently part of their usual protocol) I would have preferred a few tries by them to one by the DR. I know wouldn't last and awoke after surgery with an incredible cut down having been done to put in a suitable line. I know I'm not the easiest IV stick but no one has ever had that much trouble. I'll take a pre-op nurse or preferably a para-medic any day.

I thought St. Lukes was a great hospital. I know there are mixed reviews out there, but my experience was awesome. I think a person does need to know that they need to take it upon themselves to get up and walk, to breath into your spirometer, ask for pain medicine. But if you have a good attitude going in and take responsibility, I think your stay will be excellent.
