Hi Melanie So sorry to hear that you are having a rough time of it. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that God will give you the strength that you need to beat the infections and other problems. Also thinking of your family at this time, and praying that they are able to do what they need to do to help you and themselves.

I just talked to Melanie. She is still in the hospital in critical condition, and they expect her to be there for at least the next 20 days. She said surgery went fine, but that she was discharged with a fever and has been having major complications. Apparently she was allergic to the antibiotic they gave her and her red blood cell count went down to 4. She has had about 8 blood transfusions, but her body is eating up the blood cells as soon as they give them to her. She has coded several times. She was in ICU, but they moved her to a room so that her family could be with her because they felt she would get better care from them (she is in a University Hospital, across the street from where she had surgery). I'm sure she would appreciate a few calls, but wouldn't want to be overwhelmed with them! What we really need to do is to PRAY and PRAY HARD!!!!!!

Melanie belongs to a support group in Ashland, KY that I help with. Her husband told me a few days ago that she got a blood clot in her lung after surgery but that they were able to take care of it with medication. He also said she was on her way back to Louisville at that time because she had a fever. Yesterday, I got word from another support group member that when Melanie got to Louisville that they found that she was bleeding internally and infection had set in and that she is in critical condition in the ICU. I tried to call her home to make sure this information was accurate, but no one was there (I heard the family was called to the hospital). Please keep Melanie and her family in your prayers.

I am Melanie's angel, but her husband never called after her surgery. I meant to call the hospital, but got home late every night the week or her surgery due to helping with Bible school at church. If anyone hears anything from her, please let me know. I'm kind of concerned!
