Promised myself I was going to try and keep my profile updated as I went along...just seems like I have been busy or haven't felt like composing! Went to the doctor's officer for my appt to get my pre-op orders. It was a bit overwhelming when I got the list for everything I need to get done in the next few weeks. Blood work, chest x-ray, upper GI, gall bladder sonogram, pulmonary function test, EKG, arterial blood gas, two sessions with nutritionist and nurse interview. Yowza. I wasn't sure where to start with making the appts--my PCP or my insurance company. The doctor's office had a list of the numbers to call for all the different scheduling departments in the hospital and luckily, when I talked to my insurance they said the hospital was an approved site to have it all done. So I will be getting everything done in two visits. I think that stupid arterial blood gas thing has me more nervous than the surgery!! I have heard from several sources that it is a painful son of a gun!! But hey, I went bathing suit shopping at the beginning of the summer, so what else can I fear?? Went to the staple club support meeting last week and met somebody else who is having surgery at the same hospital on the same day---Wendy, where are you?? I never got your last name!! Put in my order for a box of samples from Vitalady.com so hopefully will have found some protein concoctions I can "stomach"....or should I say "pouch"? Just found out that my department is discontuing the insurance I have as of the first of the year..have to choose a new one come October, yikes. Got this ball rolling just in the nick of time I would say, although I think the new company would be willing to along with WLS too. One good thing about VA is that they have state laws on the book saying that insurance companies HAVE to cover it if certain criteria are met.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right time, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.
