Well,It was hard to say at first cause I am a shy person and I didn't know what to say or to think about him.He is also a quiet person so that goes very well.

When I had to go back and met with him again and what everybody have said about him,he is a very nice man answer question if I had any to say to him, basicly I was leaving everything in his hands,I guess you could say I trusted him or I would have not go through it.

His office staff is great,They are all nice.I did had to call a couple of times but They didn't seem to mind.My first impression with Lisa I had my doubts, but once I was approved to have the surgery,it seem to me she was vey nice. She was in the OR with me at least thats the only person I remember seeing. She smile at me and I lay there crying.

That they are great and I would recommend him and his staff to anyone.

Dr.Smith knows what he is a doing and I will trust him with my life.(which I already have).

From what I hear about other people talk,he does have a support group I would love to attend.

Dr.Smith address the risk very carefully and made sure I understand. He did mention death and I was speechless.

There's no other way to rate him, except is I would recommand him to anyone.

I got to see him 2 1/2 times.Once in the recovery,he peek in and I told him it hurts, and both times he came to my room and very nice never holler at me for not being able to take alot of liquids at first. He never once said "Lets get busy so I can get you out of here.Just said that "we will try again and maybe get you home". Sunday, but actually I think he would like to see me home on Saturday, but it was ok.

Dr. Smith is a great surgeon who had great compassion for me and my family as I started the process of my surgery. He made me do my homework and met with both me and my family several times prior to surgery.

His office staff was the best. They were friendley and very helpfull.

His is a great Christian man.

He met with me weekly right after my surgery and them monthly for the first six months. He has a monthly support group meeting for all his patients.

He fully explained all risks of my surgery.

I rate him a A+++ and highly recommend him to anyone thinking of obesity surgery.

My sugery went as planned. It has been one year and i have gone from 330 lbs to 205 lbs. I have my life back.

Had my first consultation with Lisa 7-15-04 and she described the procedure to me and then took a lot of time with me going over my history. Briefly spoke with Dr. Smith and he thinks I am a good candidate for this surgery (yeah, I bet he says that to all the girls, lol). Left his office to go to another hospital to await the arrival my my new granddaughter, Morgan (scheduled C-Section). She weighed at 6 lbs. 5 oz., but her lungs weren't doing too good and the next day they took her to Children's Hosp. (don't worry, they say she is doing great). She is the reason I am doing this. I want to be around to watch her grow up.

Dr Smith was the best. I felt that he was a caring man as well as a really good surgeon. My incision healed quickly and smoothly with no complications.I was out of the hospital in three days.

I am so impressed with his office staff. Each time I went to his office I was treated with courtesy.

The staff made sure I was fully informed and prepared for the surgery. I felt like they cared about their patients.

I have nothing negative to add here. My surgery was very successful. Dr. Smith and his office staff made me feel safe the whole way through.

I called Dr. Smith’s office and spoke to one of the assistants in the office. She was so kind and so sympathetic. She answered every question I had and explained a few things I had not thought to ask. She mentioned that it would help to save time if I could have all my medical records with me when I come for my first appointment, and to also call my insurance Co. and find out exactly what my insurance co. would want. I was so glad I did because the type of insurance coverage I have, does not require a recommendation from my family Dr. This was great news, one last step I had to take. Thank you BC/BS. She explained I would need to stop by and buy the video and the instruction binder. I picked up the video the next day and decided to schedule my first appointment.
5/13/2004 My first appointment. First person to talk to me was Lisa, the Bariatric Coordinator. Wow what a nice person. She was so pleasant to talk. She was however very to the point about want you had to do and what they expected from you before the surgery and after the surgery. I explain to her that my sister had this surgery about a year ago and I was with her at every appointment and stayed at the hospital with her. So I remember very well what it was like for her those first few days and the few difficult weeks that followed. After Lisa took all my information, Dr Smith came in and he was extremely sweet, gosh I was so nervous. I am not sure I can remember much of what we talked about. I do remember talking about the hospital and why the hospital is not set up to do the laparoscopic surgery but he hopes the hospital will to be able to in the near future. May 21, 2002 appointment with Cindy the Nutritionalist in the same office. Cindy was very harsh. She is very serious about the information she tells you and she does not sugar coat it. Which BTW she expresses over and over you are not to sugar coat any thing ever again. Wow, when I walked out of there I was so upset, I just wanted to forget the whole thing. But after thinking about what she said, She was right I do need to rethink the way I eat. I am going to prove to her and myself that I don't want to just lose weight but also become a more conscientious eater and have a plan of attack to be a stronger person physically. Next appointment was June 3rd with Jennifer the Psychologest. She is also in the same office. I just love having everything in the same place. She listened to me like I were the only patient she was going to see all day. She was very nice and very understanding. She elaborated a lot of things that Cindy had said but was a lot nicer about it. Next appoint will be on June 10th. with Dr. Smith I am so anxious for it to get here. I hope the insurance Co. approves my surgery. Its strange you don’t even think about the surgery because the insurance thing is more stressful than the thought of being operated on.

6/10/2002 Whoohoo, The insurance Co.approved my surgery Monday, and have a Scheduled day for Surgery, June 30th. I am so excited, I try not to tell everyone because so many people don't think surgery is a good idea but I just can't stop myself. I sure do have alot of coaches who are helping me get ready for the big day. My daughter has me on a diet to help me loose weight before the surgery and that ok because this time I know I won't be gaining it back. My sisters both joined the YMCA and call me everytime one of them go. We use the tredmill alot and I am introducing myself to the weight machines, boy do I feel like an idiot I just don't under stand them things, but I will learn. Today is my 2nd appointment with Dr. Smith. I'm sure he will have lots of instruction. Come on June 30th!

6/29/2004 Well its 1:30 in the morning and surgery is just hours away. I am very worried about the surgery itself but I just don't like staying in the hospital. I keep telling myself it just for a few days. And it will be very worth it. I also want to thank everyone for the kind words, They are very comforting. July 5, well it's day six. I am getting restless. I want to go shopping and get out of the house but my body says NO. I am feeling better, Wish I could say I was off my pain medication but I took half a dose last night and half a dose this morning. I plan on not taking any more until bedtime. I will see how that goes.

6/3/04 - I am one year post-op and still singing the praises of Dr. Smith and his staff. My opinion went from "great, competent professionals..." to, "great, competent, committed people who really put for the effort and involvement to make this experience incredibly positive and to make their patients feel supported..." I know it borders on gushing, but I cannot say enough about the pre-op care and the post-op experience. Everyone is very knowledgeable, approachable and personable.
