i have not had the surgery yet but Dr. P was very informative to me and what i liked best is that he told me he wanted to meet with me several times so that he knew who i was and that i was not just a patient or chart #!! And when i was ashamed that i had medi-cal as my insurance he told me not to be ashamed!!!

I met with Dr. Parvez on May 9, 2001 and I am convinced that he is a very caring man and does this surgery because he is truly motivated to "help". He was very informative and eager to have questions thrown at him. (I promised to bring a notebook full of questions to our next visit). He says he is very conservative in his after care and that sounds fine with me as I am also on the road of caution. He does stress the improtance of the office visits post op and expects all to comply. I give him an A+ for his congeniality and thoroughness. If you mix bedside manner with great surgical acadademia and performance I would say this is as close to perfection one could get. On another note (however) I do feel that from the very beginning there should be better communication as to "exactly" how the process is accomplished and the best order to get things done and ----- that keeping the "patient" informed frequently is paramount to their trust and faith in this adventure. Afterall, it is our bodies -- our lives we are putting in their hands!

I will meet Dr. Parvez On Nov. 20, 2000. Reyna called me to schedule the appointment and to answer any initial questions. She is so patient and friendly. She made me feel relaxed and at ease. She also let me know that I could call at any time. Right off the bat, she gets an "A" from me. If she represents his office, then I am pretty hopeful I will feel good with my choice for surgeons. I'll let you know more once I meet him.

My husband and I met Dr. Parvez yesterday. First of all he is a very kind man. He readily included my husband in our discussion and informed him of his important role of being my support.

Dr. Parvez is very thorough about the surgery and the risks involved. He will not let you make this decision lightly. He discusses the reality of the life changes you must make.

He is also very nonjudgmental about morbid obesity. He explained to my husband how I never feel full and how this was a physiological problem.

He seems to really know his craft. I am very pleased with him. I should also add that Reyna has made me feel at home, immediately. She is also patient (since I keep calling and bugging her). She never makes me feel like the nuisance that I know I am.

It has been 5 weeks since my surgery. Dr. Parvez did an excellent job. I did not have a lot of pain and Dr. Parvez is very thorough in his aftercare. He is very strict about following the dietery routine and post op appointments. He has a marvelous sense of humor and always makes sure my husband is included in discussions and questions. I had no vomiting, my energy level has increased 10 fold.

The major improvement I would like to see is that he and Reyna do not always agree on some of the procedures, so it can be frustrating when she says I cannot do something and he says I can. For instance, I live 3 hours from the hospital so I asked if I could do my preop labs on the day of surgery. He said since I lived so far away, it was okay. When I tried to get that all arranged, Reyna insited that I could not do this.

Also, just a note, Sanger General Hospital is a very small facility (40 bed hospital) and it is very old. Also, the beds are awful - extremely uncomfortable and my rear end was sore for over a week from being in that bed.

I highly recommend Dr. Parvez. He did an excellent job.

On my first visit with Dr. Parvez, he was very consurned, making sure I knew what I was getting into. He made me come up with question, so that I would be informed.

The office was very clean, and Reyna the Program Manager was great. Very helpful always ready to answer all my question I called her many times...

After care was very important to Dr. Parvez and he and Reyna made it very clear to call anytime I needed.

I knew all the risks of the surgery but they both made me feel very comfortable and I felt asured that all would be well. I am doing great feel great I am very glad to have, had Dr. Parvez as my surgeon...
