My husband and I liked him as soon as we were introduced to him in our first group consultation.
We liked him better after meeting with him one on one. He was fabulous before surgery, and after.
So far, I can't really think of anything I like least about Dr. Kaderabek.
Lay everything out on the table. He will answer EVERYTHING you throw at him.
It is highly emphasized. He holds everything very critical.
Very structured. I have had no complications and I owe that to the level of care I received from Dr. and his staff.
Dr. Kaderabek is the best of the best in my opinion. I couldn't have picked a better Dr.
Dr. Kaderabek has both. He is an all around great Dr. and person.
Dr. Kaderabek is the surgeon that I would reccommend to anyone considering surgery. You can contact his office at 317-872-9580. I believe the reason I had NO side effects was almost soley due to his care and type of surgery that he performs. I know he is one of the only surgeons that perform the VGB. I work with 16 people who have undergone the bariatric surgery. 5 of us had VGB performed by Dr Kadrerabek and none of us have had problems, we also have been more successful at maintaining consistant loss with not weight gain. Some people who have had the RuxNy have already regained all of their weight. I strongly suggest anyone considering surgery in Indianapolis to see Dr. Kaderabek.
Changed surgeon 9/2002 and starting the whole process over again due to husband being transferred to Indiana. Met with Kaderabek and decided to go through with his method of surgery- the vertical banded gastric bypass. The office staff was very friendly at St. Vincent's and his manner was mild, a little on the dry side. Sylvia at his own office handled all my scheduling and insurance approval. Sitting here post-op I still say that Dr. K doesn't have the most outgoing bedside manner, but we don't hire them for their personalities. I am ok with him for the most part, but when I call them for advice they don't react very quickly. I would like better follow-up care. This is just my opinion, but other people have had better results with him. I am now nearly a year post op and the vomitting has been going on for more than 6 months with Dr. K not even really caring anything about it. They finally scanned my gallbladder because I begged them to for two months and found out it needs to be removed and that is what is causing the symptoms. I also have an ulcer and a hernia.
My first impression of Dr. Kaderabek was good. Dr. K answered all of my questions and he was very honest during my consultation. The staff was very nice and very willing to help in any way. I believe that I will be very pleased with Dr. K and his staff. I'm excited and will be very happy when I receive my Approval. *Notice I said "when I receive my Approval", I have a positive attitude so I don't believe that I will be turned down.
I really liked Dr. Kaderabek. He was real nice and so was his staff. They didn't make me feel out of place or wierd for being fat, or overwieght as most people like to put it. I felt real comfortable. I didn't feel like they where laughing at me, they where trying to help me. That made feel good. In the consultation he told the group all of the risks and the down side to it. I was real supprised about that. Then he said OK, now the good stuff. Which I already knew from getting on this website. I even knew what type of the surgery that he performs. The Vertical Banded Gastric Bypass. Just in case you didn't know.
So far I just have good things to say about him. Nothing bad yet, so far he's been very pleasant.
I'll update more when I learn more!!
04/18/03 - Received notice from my insurance today that the consultation with Dr. Kaderabek was NOT covered. It looks like I'm going to have a hard time with them. =(
Had consultation 4/2/03. I know this is all routine for him so it's easy to understand his matter-of-fact demeanor. The next step for me is a psych eval (scheduled for 4/23/03). My insurance requires that before approval. Very happy to have found this place where Dr. K's patients have commented. Many websites aren't as helpful since Dr. K does the "combo" surgery. If anyone has found anything particularly helpful given this "combo" PLEASE email me at tamio129@yahoo.com, I am an information junkie! Thanks!
I really like Dr. Kaderabek. He was great on one on one. And answered every question. His staff is awesome they always get right back to you, when they say they will.Afercare is very important to him which makes me feel good about the whole thing.I have not had surgery with him yet ,but hope to.He took very good care of my dad when he did surgery on my dad for cancer.
My first impression of Dr. Kaderabek was that he is very knowledgeable about WLS. He is a very nice man and took time to answer all the questions asked in a timely manner. He really stressed on how important the after care and follow ups are. He was very up front about all the risks to WLS. With the 1 appointment I had with Dr. "K" I would have to rate him a 10 for his knowledge alone! I found his office staff to be very friendly and professional. I really liked Bonnie the best, she went out of her way to make me feel comfortable.
My first impression of Dr. Kaderabek, was that he was a confident surgeon and new what he was doing. He answered all my questions and I had plenty of them. He and his staff were very helpful in providing my insurance company with info and getting my approval fast. There is a set schedule for aftercare and he give lots of litature about the process from begining to 3 years after surgery. He has a nutritionist working for him that supplies all nutritional needs.
